Experiences with a start-up.


“Living with a gluten-free diet twenty years ago was difficult. I determined to eat a healthy diet without feeling deprived, so I developed a whole baking system to feed my family nutritious meals.
People kept asking me to make them my gluten-free yeast buns, pizzas, and breads. One woman said, “Trina, I would sit on your doorstep waiting for mixes to be ready if I had to.

“I appeared on a Garth Riley TV Show. It was a cancellation, and he had to fill the time slot that evening. I baked some bread for him to try, and a Lemon Meringue Pie. He told me later that he had never liked any gluten-free foods he had tried, and thought this would be the same. But he was pleasantly surprised. It was after a few experiences like this that my husband and I decided to explore the gluten-free business, and Steve Schrank gave us a hand to try out our formulas and scale the business.”

“Entering the gluten-free food business seemed like an impossible task. It was the early days in the industry. My husband and I already had a business in another field, and we’re already busy. How could we possibly find a way to help others eat a better gluten-free diet, too? Our big hearts started us on a gluten-free food path.
